Shadowing

One of the first things you’ll do on the worship team is shadow another team member in your respective role. This will allow you to see how a typical rehearsal and Sunday gathering will be like for your rostered position. Feel free to ask the person you’re paired with any questions pertaining to leading in each environment as well as make some more connections with other teammates before you ever lead.

Scheduling

Scheduling

We use an online program called Planning Center Online (PCO). If you don’t already have an account with us, you may receive a welcome email. PCO is what we use for all of our scheduling and where our song files, etc., are found for your rostered dates. Before accepting any requests, be sure to take a moment to cross-check your entire availability, which may or may not include an additional rehearsal date. Please refer to this regularly, as it is our primary source of communication as it pertains to rosters. If you have not confirmed within one week of the event, we will more than likely move on and ask someone else. For weekend gatherings, we typically send one months’ worth of requests at a time roughly a month in advance.

Preparation

Preparation

Coming prepared is crucial for fostering excellence, unity, and flexibility. Preparation demonstrates commitment to the team and respect for the worship experience, allowing for smooth rehearsals and cohesive services that honor God and serve the congregation well.

When each member knows their parts and is ready to adapt, it creates an atmosphere where we all can experience the Holy Spirit more freely, and becomes the foundation to innovate song arrangements musically through creative expression.

All Worship Team members are expected to know their parts and arrangements by rehearsing with the ChartBuilder app and using resources that are available on PCO.

Colossians 3:23 urges, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." This underscores the importance of giving our best in all endeavors, including musical preparation for worship.

Mid-Week Rehearsals

With every Sunday Service, you will be expected to be a part of our mid-week rehearsals. Rehearsal dates are attached to your PCO requests. Please be sure to look at your full availability (including the rehearsal) before accepting any dates. For all other events, such as special services or when rehearsal falls on a holiday we will schedule for a time when the building is available to the best of our ability. In cases of inclement weather or other hinderances to rehearsals we will do our best to notify you as soon as we know.

Rehearsal Call-Outs:

Serving on Sundays requires full attendance at the scheduled rehearsal. Team members who miss rehearsal, for any reason, may be rescheduled to the next available Sunday in order to uphold the standard of preparation and unity.

Blockout Dates

Please go through your Planning Center Online profile periodically and block out any dates for when you know you will not be available (including Sundays, midweek events, and rehearsals). Simply declining a date does not show as a conflict for us, so you might accidentally be asked to serve in a different team because according to your profile you are available. Blocking out dates keeps that from happening and helps tremendously in our planning.

Cancellations / Sick / Running Late

When you are scheduled, please know we are counting on you and asking that you make every effort to be on time. If you happen to ever run late, contact your Worship Leader or Music Director directly. If you are feeling sick, contact one of your leaders as soon as possible so we can find a replacement for that day. You are placed in a very unique leading role, so last minute cancellations on Sunday are not acceptable with the exception of emergencies, unforeseen events, and illnesses.

Call Times

Call times will be found within your PCO plan for the services for which you are rostered, and in our weekly group chats. Call times are when we’re expected to be on stage ready to go, not walk in the door. Please ensure that you leave margin to travel, park, get in the building, pick up your pack, get plugged in, tune, etc., by your call times. Sometimes, due to things outside of our control, start time for sound checks may get delayed, but please do what you can to be on time and ready on your end.

In-Ear Monitors (IEMS)

In-Ear Monitors (IEMS)

When playing in most of our environments, our team uses in-ear monitors. We require everyone to bring their own IEMs when they play or sing.

We do not issue backup in-ears if you forgot to bring your own. It is recommended to have a backup set of in-ears.

Below, you can find a link to purchase our recommended entry-level in-ears:

Dress Code

Our goal is to help set the tone for worship and complement the service. We should avoid causing unnecessary distractions through our actions or dress. This includes making sure you are well groomed and your clothing is clean and free of major wrinkles. We want you to be comfortable, but we also want the people around you to be comfortable too. If you step over the bounds of this guide, your leader will alert you. They’re on your side and looking out for you as well as the church.
